Registration for the Seventh Annual Henrico PAL Summer Camp will be on Friday, March 14th at midnight.
The camp is designed to provide Henrico County’s youth with a safe environment, while participating in a wide variety of educational, athletic, and recreational activities. Participants will engage in swimming lessons, soccer and baseball and softball clinics, childhood obesity prevention program, roller-skating, bowling, educational museum tours, Washington Mystics Basketball Game, Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball Game and much more. The Henrico Summer Camp will also conduct field trips every Thursday to: King’s Dominion, Yorktown Beach, Lake Anna Park, Cobblestone, Pocahontas State Park Water Country USA and Hadad's Lake. The Henrico PAL Summer Camp encourages its participants to broaden their horizons, and focuses on developing positive relationships between police officers and youths while engaging in enriching experiences.
Join Former NBA Star/VA Sports Hall of Fame Alumni Johnny Newman and the Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL) for the 8th year of his “School of Basketball”. The camp is designed for boys and girls, 6 to 15 years old of all skill levels, and focuses on improving and enhancing the basic essential skills of individual and team play. This is accomplished by making sure each camper receives opportunities to participate in individual skills competitions as well as game situations. Our staff includes: Johnny Newman, former WNBA player Jessie Hicks, former and current college and high school basketball players, basketball coaches, and police officers. An emphasis will be placed on teaching the fundamentals of ball handling, passing, rebounding, defense, and general knowledge of the game. Ratio of campers to staff is a maximum of ten to two. The 8th Annual Johnny Newman / Henrico PAL Basketball Camp will also stress the importance of staying in school, going to college, saying NO to drugs, and being a positive and upstanding citizen.
